Does life get any better than this?

So now we have a new little guy in our lives -- Carson Rylie, adorable little son of Nyckee and Miles and brother to our darling Chaeli.

We were lucky enough to have Chaeli stay with us for a few days while Nyk was in the hospital and it was so quiet in here this morning when I got up and realized she's not here today!

We're so proud of Nyk and Miles and so excited to get to know their new little son. What an amazing miracle life is!

I started writing this last night after an amazing dinner out with the amazing Mr X but I was too filled with the afterglow of the experience to concentrate on mere words.
We went to our new favorite local restaurant where the owner loves us because we were there on the first day they opened and pretty much every Friday night since, and I'm game to try their specials which are so scrumptious they (and perhaps the wine) almost make me want to cry every single time.
Last night? The most amazing velvety swordfish paired with their divine scampi smothered in to-die-for garlic and white wine sauce, not too mention two generous goblets of red house wine. Oh my. And I had a couple of tastes of Mr X's steak, cooked to medium-rare perfection, garnished with whole mushrooms. Ahhhhh. The restaurant is small and warm, Dean Martin tunes (Christmas songs last night) flow over us, we always run into people we know that we can share a friendly moment with while we're there, and Gloria, the owner, always gives us a story and a laugh on our way out. It's a bit ridiculous what we spend there, but it's worth every single dime. It's one of our few indulgences but it's absolutely necessary to indulge once in awhile.

So Mr X and I relaxed with satisfied tummies on our comfy recliners with our lazy dogs and cats under the lights of our Christmas tree last night watching George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon, contemplating our new family member, and wondering how life could possibly be any better. I don't think it could.
