haha, what a loser

I can't believe how long I have avoided this thing. I'm sure I've lost everyone's interest by now. So sorry!

So, here I am, still alive. A couple of months later. Forgive me, though; Spring comes and the last thing I want to do when I get home is sit inside and type.

Holy crap, so much has happened since I was last here.
Nyk and Miles were married in a lovely backyard ceremony at the end of April. They had planned an at-home ceremony, but when Mitchie offered her boyfriend's beautiful backyard they couldn't resist. The evening was so warm and sunny and we even managed to throw a bit of a party together. It was perfect. Then the next day we all went back to work. Hah.

Nyk and Miles have recently acquired a new dog, Pheobe (a tiny chi/boston bull mixup), too. She was an animal shelter reject (she'd been at the shelter for about a month, one of my coworkers heard about her, went to look at her, didn't love her, so I told Nyk to check her out and she fell in love at first sight) but has turned out to be the sweetest dog ever. She's approximately 5 years old, ugly as sin, but she adores Nyk and we all adore her. Chaeli calls her Pee-Bee.

This picture was taken today in our backyard. I bought this slide set from one of our lawyers on the weekend at her garage sale. Chaeli has been at her dad's for a few days so today was the first day she saw the slide. It was so cute -- when we first went outside and she saw it, she just froze. Sliding is our very, very favorite thing to do together. She walked up to it really slowly, walked around it,eyes big as can be, said, "Mima. Slide. "like she could hardly believe it was true. (She calls me Mima instead of Ima lately.) I had to help her up the ladder a couple of times, but by the time she had to go home she was flying up the ladder and even up the slide-part. I even remembered to videotape the occasion. It was the cutest thing ever. Life is sooooo good.

Work is ridiculously busy. I don't even want to talk about it. My summer holiday plans are already screwed again this year and I'm starting to work weekends and lay awake worrying all night. And I don't get paid enough. Oh, wait. I didn't want to talk about it.

Mr X is madly trying to find us an acreage to move to and it looks like he might be on to something at last. The only problem is that there is no house, water, power, etc. on the land yet. It will be a big pain in the ass to make it work, but it just might be worth it. If we do move there (about 40 minutes from here where he now works) I'll try to find a job there, too. There is a lot of oilpatch stuff around there so it shouldn't be too difficult. Maybe I'll just stay home and raise burros and fainting goats. If we do move, I'll miss the girlies so very much. I guess we'll still be close, but we won't be able to see them every day. I'm so spoiled.

Well, off to bed for me. I'm reading a terrific book called My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult and it's calling me. Mandy, I didn't really love Memory Keeper's Daughter, either. I wanted to, but I just didn't. This one is SO much better.
